Overview
Deitsched articles fall into one of three formats: power rankings, restaurant reviews, and general commentary.
For power rankings, the editors of deitsched collectively determine best-in-class restaurants for a particular genre or dish. Restaurant reviews are determined by consensus across all members of the deitsched editorial board. These reviews generally involve reproducibility tests by at least two editors. General commentary contains other editorial content by deitsched editors that do not fall strictly into the above categories. These articles include meta-analyses, observations, statistical commentaries, and more.
Background
The deitsched editors first moved to New York with the expectation that robust and reliable sources existed to aid them in the elephantine task of navigating the city’s culinary offerings. They were severely disappointed.
The editors of deitsched are young professionals with backgrounds in computer science, statistics, history, art, and home cooking. They have travelled the world in pursuit of opera magna of chefs from Fifth Avenue to the 5th arrondissement. They seek to apply their extensive observation of the worlds’ great chefs and culinary techniques, and scientific training to systematically evaluate restaurants across the globe.
